This charcoal drawing captures Elizabeth Taylor at 16, at a moment when she was still a young actress early in her Hollywood career. In October 1948, she had appeared in only a few films and was just beginning the transition from child roles to leading parts. Her breakthrough as a major star would come shortly afterward.
