ABOUT
Annette H. Evans is an artist, designer, and author based in coastal Oceanside, California. Originally from Indiana, she grew up in a time and place where television and movie actors felt like distant, almost mythical figures—glamorous and untouchable. Then, in the late ’70s, her family moved to Los Angeles, and everything changed. Suddenly, stars weren’t just on the big screen; they were in her neighborhood, in her school, even relaxing at the beach! From meeting Peter Brady (Christopher Knight) from The Brady Bunch at school parties and Farrah Fawcett on the sand to seeing Ronald Reagan give an election speech at the local mall, the world of Hollywood became real. That shift—celebrities transforming from abstract icons into real people—is what now defines Annette’s art.
Through her paintings, she invites you into that same world. Imagine sharing a glass of champagne with Marilyn Monroe or having a heart-to-heart with Cary Grant. Her portraits strip away the distance, making these legendary figures feel like they could be an old friend or a charming dinner guest in your home.
A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), Annette spent years as a fashion designer in Los Angeles and Orange County, creating beachwear for brands like Ocean Pacific (OP). Her background in fashion—where style, personality, and impeccable color harmony are essential—continues to influence her work, bringing a refined yet playful sensibility to every piece she paints.
Annette’s commissioned portraits are highly sought after, cherished as timeless family heirlooms that capture not just a likeness, but the spirit of their subjects. With over twenty years of experience, she has also taught traditional drawing and painting, sharing her passion for watercolor and oil techniques with aspiring artists.
Now a full-time artist, Annette creates work that blends elegance, warmth, and an irresistible sense of nostalgia. Whether she’s painting Hollywood legends, vintage Barbies, or coastal scenes, her art is infused with joie de vivre—a feeling that belongs in your home and in your life.
Annette lives in San Diego with her husband and their Aussie Doodle, Sailor, where she paints daily, blending her love for fashion, film, and storytelling onto the canvas.
